4 Weeks Old: An Older Newborn Session

I got a call from Molly mid-summer because she had won the gift certificate I provided for the Motherhood Maternity event last October.  What is super crazy, is that she won it before she was even expecting.  They had been on a very difficult journey attempting pregnancy; things had gotten discouraging, but God had a plan.  So, even before they found out they were expecting, they had a newborn session lined up.  Once this precious family sat in my living room studio and shared their story, I knew I couldn’t have hand-picked a more deserving family.  I loved meeting them and their sweet baby Ursula.

Sometimes baby has needs that must be cared for. Regardless, there are just times when a session must be postponed. The good news is that we can still get beautiful images for the family.  While our expectations for an older newborn session are different, we can still make beautiful imagery for your family.  Older newborns may not quite go into those curly, womb-like poses; They’ve had time to stretch out, after-all.  But, I’ve actually had so much fun with older newborns lately.  Baby Ursula had an amazing session.

As an older newborn, she was more awake.  We captured those bright eyes, before she drifted off to sleep.

While I tend to be a neutral girl, It was fun to play with the colors that they have chosen for Ursula’s nursery.  The blanket was a special gift, and it just popped with her gorgeous skin tone and amazing hair.

Dad is just a tad bit excited about increasing his cheering session for his favorite team.  He brought along the tiny helmet, and I loved getting this shot for him.

What a joy to meet this precious little gift and provide her family with lasting memories of her tininess.  2017-10-25_0064
