I met baby Ruby’s family when her brother came in for his newborn session about 2 years ago, and also photographed him at his one year session. He had cake-smashing down to an art! So, of course it was an honor to be chosen to photograph his sweet sister as well.
Ruby slept for most of her session like a dream. With several boys in lately, it was fun to let mom “shop” my headband/tieback stash. With some new additions (like the ruby-colored one bottom left below by Grace*e) , I was excited to see what mom would pick out.
Creamy whites are always a favorite of mine. We had photographed brother in the crocheted egg-wrap that mom had, so it was special to create that shot for sister, too.
You know how I feel about family images. I love including them in my newborn sessions. And, when they turn out like this, well, that is just the best. Y’all, brother’s face…I’m all heart-eye emojis over here. After brother did the hard job of being super for family and sibling shots, dad took him for lunch and a drive while we finished off sister’s session. I like to either begin or end with sibling shots, depending on the best fit for the family. If another parent, family-member or friend can take the sibling after their part, or bring the sibling toward the end, it keeps them from becoming frustrated with the sometimes lengthy, newborn-focused segment.
Mom wanted a hands-on chin shot, like we got with brother, so even though sweet Ruby had a feed and some awake time, we were able to settle her back in for some precious-in-pink poses and work for that pose. Mom was so excited about the floral pink tie back by The Sweet Bean.
(Also check out the sweet baby back rolls in the top-left corner below….my favorite!)
I loved meeting this sweet little gem, and truly hope to see her again at her 1 year cake smash. Which, you know as a parent, will be only a blink away.
If you are considering your own Leila Photography Session, I’d love to hear from you.
