Monday Mom Minute, Episdode 22, Pelvic Health Therapist: Aubrey Smith PT/DPT

Is it taboo to talk about pelvic floor health? It shouldn’t be!

For Aubrey Smith, PT/DPT, a pelvic health specialist with Compleo Physical Therapy and Wellness, it’s definitely an everyday conversation.

As women, and moms, there are so many aspects of pelvic health that impact our daily lives. Unfortunately many of us live with issues that we chalk up to “turning 30…or 40…or, having a baby,” and other than maybe some memes or jokes about “Peezing,” we aren’t having real conversations about this important topic.

Aubrey supports women to help them prepare their bodies for birth, as well as helping women get in tune with what is happening from the, “belly button to the knee.” In our Monday Mom Minute chat, she shares that we don’t just have to accept pelvic health issues such as bladder, bowel, sexual function or diastasis recti, but we can address and actually change them.

It may not be an easy topic to bring up, but Aubrey’s genuine, down-to-earth, fun, and compassionate, nature provides a safe space for women to start the conversation about pelvic health issues. They truly don’t have to just be, “a part of life.”

The Monday Mom Minute is an interview series by Heather Sullivan of Leila Photography, to serve parents in the Waco, Texas area with local resources surrounding pregnancy, postpartum care, birth, newborns, babies, toddlers, preschool, and childhood.

To make the Monday Mom Minute more accessible, Instagram will show a month of mini-clips from our chat each Monday. You can watch the full interview here via the YouTube link.
