Monday Mom Minute, Episode 9, Leila Photography with Postpartum Doula and Lactation Services of Waco

After the initial excitement of baby’s arrival, the onslaught of visitors, and maybe some hands-on help from family..

It quiets down. It’s just you and baby.

What then?

It can be an isolating time. You’re bone-weary, your time and body feel like they are no longer your own, and you’re navigating this new wonderful, but hard, time as a brand new parent.

A postpartum doula could help.

Until about a year ago, I didn’t even realize that postpartum doulas existed!

Yes, I’ve crawled out from under my rock, but when Tonja of Happy Waco Moms popped into my Instagram feed, I couldn’t share her content fast enough. I was practically jumping for joy when she accepted my invite to be a part of the Monday Mom Minute.

Tonja started her Postpartum Doula Services in 2015, and then expanded as the only private Lactation Services provider in Waco. Since then, Tonja initiated a non-profit service that provides postpartum doulas to underserved moms, and also trains women who have the interest to serve in this capacity. She has a heart to see doula services move from being a luxury time to a more accessible service for all moms. Under the umbrella of Happy Waco Moms, Tonja is making a difference in Waco with her three mom-oriented businesses.

Tonja may have walked into my studio a face from my IG feed, but I definitely felt like she left a friend. I loved connecting with her and chatting about her heart behind her services, and you definitely dont want to miss it.

The Monday Mom Minute is a new interview series by Heather Sullivan of Leila Photography, to serve parents in the Waco, Texas area with local resources surrounding pregnancy, postpartum care, birth, newborns, babies, toddlers, preschool, and childhood.

I’d love for you to find me on Instagram, and subscribe on YouTube and enjoy each episode of the Monday Mom Minute series headed your way!

Definitely head over and find Tonja at Happy Waco Moms and follow her on Instagram and Facebook.
