Personal Project: The Relationship Series

I had another amazing experience this past April at the Texas School of Professional Photography. If you love photography as a hobby or a business, you should really attend. (Not to give anything away, but 2024 is actually going to be extra special!)

This year, I took a class from the amazing Fine Art Photographers, Tim Walden and Audrey Wancket. It was recommended by a friend and was truly an opportunity for stretching my craft and personal growth. Audrey is fantastic, and as someone who considers myself good with children, I still walked away with amazing tips and tricks for my toolbelt (umm….literally).

It was Tim’s work, however that lit a spark in me. As he shared his work, especially his black and white relationship series images, they evoked so much emotion. Portraits of people I didn’t even know brought tears to my eyes. That was powerful to me.

To apply what I learned, and honestly to work out and improve in using the very different lighting set-up from my norm, I’m doing a personal project of my own Black and White relationship images.

Jennifer and Jeana, mother and daughter-in-law extraordinaire, came in to preserve and share their beautiful connection, and I can’t wait to to blog those images for you. I’ll give you a peek below, but they definitely deserve their own post. This is a learning project, and thus qualifies under my Model Call. If you are in the Waco, Texas area and would like to be considered for participation in this project, please reach out through my contact form, www.leilaphotography.com
