*Trigger Warning* In preparation for October, which is Miscarriage and Infant Loss Awareness Month, I’m interviewing local resources who help families who have experienced loss. If this subject matter is too difficult, please know how much you are cared for, and join us for next month’s Monday Mom Minute.
Parker’s Purpose is a an amazing organization serving families, who experience the loss of their baby, through hospital care packages and Care Cradle donations. Their upcoming Fluffle Shuffle, scheduled for October 15, 2022 at 9 am, held at the Bishop-Reicher track, will raise money for their incredible mission as well as honor the babies of bereaved families. Families and supporters can opt to have a sign honoring their infant along the track, and names will be read aloud in memory. Sign up by September 16th, 2022 for the Fluffle Shuffle! Check out Parker’s Purpose on Instagram and Facebook.
Cradled by Love, Hope and Healing, founded by Rachel Craig in 2011, offers support for families who have experienced miscarriage, stillbirth, early infant loss, and infertility. Last year, Cradled hosted an event at Indian Spring Park to read the Proclamation by the Waco mayor that recognized October 15th as Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Day. The I-35 bridge was lit up in pink and blue in remembrance and honor while families walked along the river toward the bridge with lights recognizing the little ones they had lost. Cradled always has an event on October 15th, and this year they will be joining Parker’s Purpose for the Fluffle Shuffle.
You can learn more about Cradled on Facebook or through the website: www.cradled.org.
Rachel is a licensed therapist who also serves postpartum moms and children with PTSD through her counseling services. She has also been instrumental in ensuring families have photography after a loss, through training our local hospital nurses in providing photography, when a volunteer photographer is unavailable.
The Monday Mom Minute is an interview series by Heather Sullivan of Leila Photography, to serve parents in the Waco, Texas area with local resources surrounding pregnancy, postpartum care, birth, newborns, babies, toddlers, preschool, and childhood.
