Their late pregnancy was dedicated to trying to keep this sweet girl safe inside momma for as long as possible. So, it was great news that even though her early arrival necessitated a NICU stay, it was shorter than expected. It was definitely a joy for them to be home as a family. They arrived at their session in gorgeous Fall hues, ready to document their new addition.Big Sister was quite proud of her little sister and did really well at sibling portraits. (No small feat when you are quite a little big-sister.) I’m just guessing here, but I do believe these will both be some serious daddy’s girls.
While she wasn’t my lowest birthweight client, to date, I think she may be the tiniest I’ve had on session day. Little miss was just over 5 lbs. at 4 weeks old. I could have cuddled her all day, which I actually don’t think she would have minded. She definitely preferred being held and wrapped, and gave us some sweet smiles.
Since she wasn’t a huge fan of the posing workflow, we did some more relaxed set-ups. I love how even the newest babies are already very good at communicating their preferences and personalities. Relaxed baby posing is it’s own kind-of-beautiful, and I adore it as much as perfectly posed images. That tiny shoulder peeking out on the bottom right….my momma-heart just aches. (You want to lean down and kiss that little cheek, right?)
Christmas is right around the corner, so it seemed only fitting to pull in a festive set to round out her session. She looked precious in this romper by Lantern Hill Knits. Her Reindeer friend is by Little Knit Prop Shop, and the fun snowflake pillow by The Shabby Den.
Are you prepping for a new arrival, too? It’s a great idea to have your newborn session on the books by your third trimester. If you’d also like to document your baby bump, we schedule maternity sessions around 32 weeks. You can check out Leila Photography’s galleries as well as began your own booking process, here.
