It was an amazing experience. This young couple had decided that outside of themselves and medical staff, no one would attend their birth, except the photographer. It would be an intimate experience, just for them, as they welcomed their first child. My goal as birth photographer was to stay as inconspicuous as possible and capture their birth story. So that, when time tried to steal their memories, they could look back and relive the miracle of the moment.
As my first birth photography experience, this night will ever be etched in my memory. I had done my best to research and seek advice from those with experience in birth photography. When that phone call came at 11:30 p.m., I knew I wouldn’t sleep a wink as they kept me posted on their labor. Their daughter was born at 3:59 a.m.
When I drove away from the hospital that night, my excitement was palpable. A miracle had taken place, and I’d witnessed it through my lens. A child entered this word. A husband and wife became parents. A family was born.
The parents were elated with their photos. Mom, was grateful to see things that had been clouded from her awareness during labor. Dad, who had been a little on the fence about the whole idea of having a photographer, expressed how very glad he was that they had chosen to have me there. It was absolutely my joy, that they entrusted this particular photographer with their birth story.
I had a total misconception about birth photography when I gave birth to my first son. How I wish I could go back and have his birth story captured. While I can’t turn back time for myself, it would be an honor to meet with you and answer any questions you might have about capturing your child’s birth story.
Blessings!

Absolutely stunning my friend! YOU are amazing and looking at those photos is like being there. You did fabulous!
Thank you Bri. It was such an awesome experience. Best part? They asked me to hold her before I left. I got to be one of the first people to hold her. Yep, my heart melted like butter.
